A Defining Assembly for the Architectural Profession in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan, 31 March 2026 – The Institute of Architects, PUJA Brunei (IAPB) convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the 2024/2025 term, marking a significant moment of reflection, renewal, and forward direction for the architectural community.

Held at PUJA Hub, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, the gathering brought together Corporate, Graduate, and Associate Members in a setting that underscored both collegiality and professional purpose. The AGM served not merely as a statutory requirement, but as a platform for collective introspection and strategic alignment.

Proceedings commenced with opening remarks, setting the tone for a comprehensive review of the Institute’s trajectory. Members were presented with key reports, including the Minutes of Meeting, membership updates, and a curated overview of initiatives and milestones achieved over the past term—each reflecting the Institute’s continued commitment to advancing architectural practice in Brunei.

In recognition of evolving participation dynamics, the session was conducted in a hybrid format, with online access via Zoom ensuring broader engagement and inclusivity across the membership.

At the heart of the assembly was the nomination and election of office bearers for the 2026/2027 term. Following the formal dissolution of the incumbent committee, the election process was carried out with due governance and transparency. The appointment of new leadership signals both continuity and renewed ambition for the Institute’s next chapter.

The meeting further outlined key priorities and strategic initiatives for the year ahead, before concluding with an open forum that invited dialogue, perspective, and constructive input from members—reinforcing a culture of shared ownership and professional stewardship.

The Institute announced the appointment of its new office bearers :

  • Honorary Advisor: Dato Paduka Ar. Haji Idris bin Abas
  • Honorary Secretary: Ar. Alvin Foo Shih Ann
  • Finance Administrator: Ar. Rodney Tew Chen Tong
